3-Night Tour (Fri to Mon)

Take a 3-night tour around the ever-lasting green Amazonian basin’s biodiversity, discovering its vast mesmerizing territories, flora, fauna, and civilizations. Sail the Napo River and landing on the Pañacocha Biological Reserve, home to friendly pink dolphins and squirrel monkeys. Then head to a parrot clay 'lamedero' and admire the colors of endemic birds, before learning about Amazonian culture at Sani Warm Center.  It is possible to combine both Manatee cruises for one week-long cruise.  Please note that these itineraries are subject to change depending on weather, technical and operational conditions.

    Manatee Amazon Explorer Cruise Tour

    Arrival in Coca & Napo River

    Day 1 / Friday

    Your Ecuadorian adventure starts in Coca airport, which can be reached taking a domestic flight form Quito. Meet a representative who will transfer you to Napo River port to board a motorized canoe and sail down the river for about 1 hour. This trip will be your first introduction to the rainforest, with its captivating sounds and its wilderness.
    Arrive at M/V Manatee Amazon Explorer, an exclusive vessel that features specious social areas to interact with people from all over the world, comfortable suites, and a wide observation deck.
    Take a walking tour after sunset to discover the nocturnal creatures of the rainforest, such as caimans.

    PaΓ±acocha Biological Reserve

    Day 2 / Saturday

    Today, arrive in the PaΓ±acocha Biological Corridor. Its name derives from Kichwa and means 'Piranha Lake,' an endemic carnivorous fish. Take a canoe trip with chances of spotting pink river dolphins and friendly monkeys, and piranhas, alligators and sea monkeys in the white waters.
    Depending on weather conditions, you can go for a swim, a unique experience in the wild. Then, enjoy an Amazonian-style barbecue and refreshing tropical drinks near a camping site.
    Your last trip of the day is an afternoon exploration trail, to keep training your eyes to view hidden animals and learn about the native flora.

    Parrot Clay Lick & Sani Warm Center

    Day 3 / Sunday

    There is a place where hundreds of colorful parrots and parakeets gather to eat one of the natural components of their diet: clay. You will have the chance to visit one of this places, called parrot clay licks, or 'lamederos,' and are a true show for birdwatchers and nature lovers.
    Afterwards, visit the Sani Warm Kichwa Interpretation Center, an organization created by a group of local women who wanted to share their culture and gastronomy to the world. This trip is a great chance to get involved in the Napo Riverbank culture and buy handicraft and souvenirs available to take back home.
    Visit to the Interpretation Center Yaku Kawsay , also known as 'The World under water.' The day will end with a night walking tour around the forest. This walking tour is optional and depends on the sea level and weather conditions.

    Return to Coca

    Day 4 / Friday

    Sail down the Napo River until reaching a meeting point, where you will disembark M/V Manatee Amazon Explorer Cruise to board a motorized canoe and transfer to Coca.

    Manatee Amazon Explorer Cruise Tour

    Arrival in Coca & Napo River

    Day 1 / Monday

    In the morning transfer from Coca airport to the Napo River Port to take a trip on a motorized canoe down the river for 1 hour. Then, aboard M/V Manatee Amazon Explorer. During the journey it is possible to sense the spirit of the rainforest, take in its ever-changing landscapes, and keep an eye open to spot different species. You can also take this time to go over the luxurious facilities of the vessel and ask your inquiries to the staff.
    After sunset, take your flashlights and join your guide on a nocturnal walk, to see the famous caiman alligators and other animals in their natural habit.

    YasunΓ­'s heart - Peruvian Border

    Day 2 / Tuesday

    Start the day with a walking tour on terra firme (non-flooded land) with the naturist guide to discover the vast Amazonian biodiversity.
    Then, board the vessel and arrive in the majestic Yasuni National Park, a natural paradise shared by Ecuador and Peru. Sail on a canoe through one of the most pristine and unexplored black-water systems on the Amazonian basin, with a very rich fauna that includes legendary pink dolohins, black caiman alligator and enigmatic anacondas, many species of river turtles and monkeys. This is also home to the hoatzin, a bird locally known as 'stinking peacock,' with a unique and exotic appearance and a very characteristic feature: the claws on its wings.
    Those feeling more adventurous can opt to spend a night 'glamping' (not included in the regular package, please ask for conditions).

    Community Trip and Island Explorations

    Day 3 / Wednesday

    Visit a school on a local community located on the shores of the Napo River. The trip is designed to learn about the educational system in such a distant Ecuadorian area, and have a cultural exchange with the inhabitants of the Amazon.
    Back on the vessel, get involved in activities such as talks, documentaries and, if time allows, elaborating handicraft.
    In the afternoon, explore one of the great sandbank islands, where a guide will teach you about this particular ecosystem and its biodiversity.

    Observation Tower & Limoncocha Biological Reserve

    Day 4 / Thursday

    Today, climb a 100-feet (37-meters) tall observation tower built next to the giant ceibo tree. From above, it is possible to appreciate the Amazonian view as the birds and the monkeys do, with a great view of the canopy.
    Visit the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, an incredible natural reserve with more than 475 birds and monkeys. This activity will last until nighttime, when the search for black caiman alligator will take place (using flashlights). After a full day interacting with nature, return to M/V Manatee Amazon Cruise.

    Return to Coca

    Day 5 / Monday

    Disembarkation from the M/V Manatee Amazon Cruise and board motorized canoe that will take you back to Coca. A representative of the cruise will join you to the airport, where you can take your flight to Quito, the Ecuadorian capital.
